A native English speaker with over 20 years of international experience, I'm here to help you master the English language - whether for business, education, or everyday life.
I grew up in the Scottish Highlands the third of four boys, finished high school on the Black Isle near Inverness, and then after a year at college, I made my way to university in Dundee. I started my English teacher training at Dundee College in 2004, then after my first teaching job in a summer school in Buckinghamshire, I moved to Poland for 2 years to teach, and then made my way back to Britain.
In January 2007, I started work at EF Oxford, a new school which quickly became one of Britain’s biggest Language schools. I was made Senior Teacher and Exams co-ordinator. After 8.5 years in Oxford, Scotland came calling and so I moved back to Edinburgh in June 2015.
After working in a school in Edinburgh, I made the decision to become self-employed, which has proven to be a rewarding challenge, with every day offering many problems and opportunities including allowing me to spend time teaching at and english language school in Madrid.
I pride myself in being flexible to student needs and have enjoyed learning about their lives while improving their English language skills.
I have taught students from all over the world – South Korea, Mexico, Italy, Greece, Bulgaria, Spain, France, Switzerland, Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Poland, Hungary, Venezuela, Equatorial Guinea, Dominican Republic, Latvia, Portugal, Tunisia and the list goes on..
This experience has helped me greatly, I feel I can teach any student at any level in any part of the world, whether they are doctors, barmen, pilots, waiters, athletes, cleaners, physiotherapists or university professors. Not to mention one of my best friends :)
I aim for my lessons to always be informative but also fun, with the student learning something helpful for their lives, whether that means getting a better job, feeling more confident in daily life or passing an exam that proves your knowledge and hard work after years of study.
